Bio: Scott G. has been around race cars from
birth, born into a family that seemingly have race fuel running
through their veins. His grandfather Charles Wallace Scott
(Scotty) who is considered to be a pioneer of Hot Rodding,
George and Bill, his father and uncle, who have also made
their mark in motorsports. His Father George holds several
land speed records with the S.C.T.A. and his uncle Bill has
raced the Indy 500 taking top qualifying rookie honors. His
mother Terry says that he was born to race, “It’s
all he’s ever known, and he’s always been good
at it”. Starting at an early age of 4 racing BMX bikes
he fell in love with the dirt. Featured at age 5 as “Kid
of the month” in Kids TV World magazine, Scott’s
1st taste of the media attention he would grow to cherish.
His family would spend about a month of every year at the
desert enjoying places like Pismo Beach, and Glamis. Scott’s
first experience with professional racing came just out of
high school when his step father Jim McGill (also a successful
off-road and pavement racer) introduced him to the head fabricator
at Nelson and Nelson Racing. N&N racing had the contract
for Chevrolet to represent them in the deserts of Mexico and
in the Mickey Thompson stadium off-road championship. This
was where Scott learned how a professional off-road race program
should be handled. When budgets were tightened at Chevrolet,
advancements were no where in sight, so Scott decided to go
to work for Walker Evans Racing as a full time Fabricator.
Having his hand in three racecars from start to finish gives
him the knowledge that will make the difference in his future.
Currently employed by Kreg Donahoe at Donahoe Racing (also
professional off-road racers), Scott keeps up to date with
all of the latest advancements in negotiating with the roughest
terrain in the world. In 1998 a good friend told Scott to
take a closer look at the Rally Cars being raced in the United
States, and introduced him to what would become his dream
and his focus from that point forward. He is constantly struggling
to bring more media coverage to rally racing. He was the Rally
Editor for dirt pilot Magazine until they went dot com. His
writing continues in Car Audio and Electronics Magazine as
he hones his skills to hopefully be on staff of the first
magazine dedicated to rally racing in the United States. 2002
was a great year for Scott as he proved himself well in the
California Rally Series Rally-X championship. He raced the
GT class and took the championship outright, as well as overall
top honors scoring more points than any other driver all year
long(500 out of 500 possible) winning top points at every
single event he entered. His future appears bright within
this next big automotive movement! |
