Bio: Marvin has been a rally enthusiast for
the past 4 years, starting back in May, 1998, with Rim of
the World International Rally; one of the most demanding races
in the United States. With four friends, Marvin headed out
to Palmdale, Ca. to experience the awesome sport of Rallying.
Marvin describes it as, “the most amazing thing to watch
"street legal" race cars carving through mountainous
dirt roads, that have a hill on one side and a drop off on
the other, not to mention the speed some of these cars are
getting up to.” That experience in Palmdale helped Marvin
make an important change in his racing lifestyle. Up until
that time, he was involved in BMX bicycle racing. He had competed
on the national circuit 4 years in a row and had been involved
with the sport since he was 13. At that time he knew he had
to make a clear decision to either become a professional BMX
racer, or look for a decent job in the automotive industry.
Marvin’s experience at the race in Palmdale, confirmed
his decision to start a new career involved in cars. This
year will be his first year of competition, attacking the
California Rally Series Rally-cross championship along with
Team GRAVEL CREW, hoping to acquire enough points by the end
of the year for a top ten finish. Obviously trying to finish
as high up in points as possible, and believing in himself
and The Gravel Crew, to make a reasonable goal of top ten.
The changes that happened to Marvin in these last couple of
years have brought him much closer to the lifestyle he wants
to be living. Firstly, having job in the automobile business
doing something that is one extreme forms of automobile maintenance,
and secondly, entering in the most extreme sport of automobile
racing. To Marvin, this is the best opportunity in life, to
achieve things that he has yet only dreamed of.
